What you need to know about Kabong
Getting around is largely by road: a coastal highway and local roads connect Kabong to other towns, with private cars and limited bus services the most common transport option and travel to the nearest larger centres taking several hours by car. Housing in Kabong tends to be low-rise — single-storey and double-storey terrace houses, traditional kampung timber homes and some newer concrete houses — while high-rise apartments are rare. Residents rely on basic amenities such as local shops, a wet market, primary schools and a clinic, and they travel out for specialist medical care, higher education and big‑ticket shopping. The local property market is relatively affordable and quiet, driven mainly by owner-occupiers and local demand rather than speculative investment, so turnover can be slow but prices are generally lower than in Sarawak’s urban centres.
